Technical SEO

Technical SEO makes it easy for search engines to understand what your web page is actually about.

It also has a crossover with elements important to users such as site speed, mobile optimisation and accessability.

We know that when your website is running well from a technical perspective, it can give you an additional boost in the search engines.

Let's Get Technical

Technical SEO Helps Crawlers

Have you ever heard of Google spiders, bots or crawlers? Don’t worry they don’t bite.

They are actual programmes that crawl websites and follow links. They land on a page, read all the content, and then follow the links on that page, both internal and external links. By doing this they spread around the internet crawling web pages all day long and feed the information back to the search engines.

Once the search engines get the information back from the spider, they read your page and put it in their index of web pages.

When a person types a term into a search engine, the search engine has to decide out of all the billions of web pages, which ones should show to the end user and in what order.

Occasionally a spider can not read a page, can not find a page or is redirected to another page.

If this happens we have a severe technical SEO issue as our page will not show in the search results. Ask yourself a simple question, do you know how many of your pages are not indexed?

You see technical SEO is not about keywords or backlinks, it is about ensuring your pages are visible to both spiders and humans. If they are not visible to search engine spiders, they can not be visible to humans coming directly from search results, but can only be found upon navigating your website.

Technical SEO Improves UX

When your website is structured logically robots find it easy to crawl your website and hop from one page to another through your internal linking.

Visitors also find it easy to navigate your website when everything is where it should be, intuitively. Navigation and finding things easily is a big part of the user experience (UX) and technical SEO can help improve this experience in addition to search engine optomisation.

Site architecture and site structure are things we look at when improving aspects of Technical SEO on websites, as they also impact the end-user experience. Other areas of technical SEO that users will directly notice are:

  • Site Speed
  • Mobile Responsiveness
  • HTTPS – Secure Website
  • Image Optomisation
  • Redirects and 404 Pages
  • Font Delivery

Making Thing’s Better

Technical SEO is not just about finding issues and fixing them, it is part of SEO that can have a direct impact on your performance in terms of organic visability.

You may have a website that is doing okay and you are happy with it, but when an expert looks under the bonnet, they may find aspects of your site that can be enhanced.

That is what we do. Schema markup is one example, still today manu websited do not implement it, or implement it incorrectly.

You could be wandering why your competitors show their review stars in the search engines and your website does not. These little optomisations can increase your click through rate, increased click through rate equals more visitors, and more visitors can ultimitley lead to more sales.

If you want us to take a look at your website for a technical SEO standpoint, just get in touch with our team and we will be happy to see how we can help your business today.
